New Beginnings.

Hi, WordPress.

I think I’ll have weaned myself off of LiveJournal just around the time when the next chapter in my life (aka: GRADUATE SCHOOL) will be commencing, so hopefully will start blogging in earnest over here at wordpress then. It’s been so long since I’ve started a new journal that I honestly have no idea how to do so…so I guess I’ll just dive right in with a little bit of background; a little bit of babbling.

On May 10th I’ll finish my undergraduate education at U of I…on June 9th I will start my graduate education, right back at U of I. Part of me is still conflicted about this: should I have been braver? Less financially conscious? Should I have looked at schools in the far corners of the country, not just in my comfort zone (the Midwest)? For the most part, though, I’m feeling good about my decision.

Staying at the #9 school in the country is not exactly slumming, living alone for the first time (and yet only a block from the boyfriend–Adam) sounds incredibly appealing right now, and not having the stress of adapting to a whole new city while taking on a graduate course load…all big pros in my book. It also allows me to just be looking forward to graduation in a way most of the people around me are not, as they’re bound for the real world and will only be returned as alumni.

I have two more years until I have to accept that state of mind (though–truthfully–I don’t think I’ll have a big problem with it). I suppose that means that in Fall of 2010 I’ll have to magically morph into Adult Elena. I hope it’s more of a subtle shift.

Off to the library to circulation-aide it up, then time for an EdPsych exam I am not thrilled about taking (GROUP ESSAY EXAM? REALLY?). More soon, probably when I’m fully caffeinated. Oh, toffee nut lattes…my bank account hates thee, but you will always be key to getting me through a day rife with a case of the blahs…

One Response to “New Beginnings.”

  1. [...] Last year I had just signed a lease and decided I would stick around Champaign for several reasons. Some were logical ($$$, number 9 program in the country), some were very driven by love and hope (Adam). I was starting to feel acute senioritis, but graduation came less than a month later. Amidst my whining over classes and papers I had time for several bar crawls, plenty of Rock Band, lots o’ online shopping (finding the perfect dress(es) for my cousin’s wedding), and a picnic. I should’ve been more grateful for the free time I had, but Senioritis is a hard inflammation (sorry, remembering the Greek/Latin class I was taking a year ago…oh, -itis) to overcome. [...]
