Floral Jacket: April 28th, 2010

Event: School placement

Outfit: Black/white/blue floral jacket: Simply Vera via Kohl’s; White tee & jeans: Gap; Rosette flats: Target; Robin’s egg blue necklace: Borrowed from Anna; Shell belt: Forever 21

I love this “jacket”, and it doesn’t get worn nearly enough! I tend to forget about it until a morning like today when nothin’ is working at all (had a visual involving leggings last night and then couldn’t find either pair). Putting it on today just made me all the more excited to wear it soon over dresses/skirts and perhaps with it all closed on top (no faux lapels). I spied this at Kohl’s sometime in summer of 2008, but even on sale I wasn’t diggin’ the price tag. My sister saw it a couple o’ months later in my size, marked down even more, and grabbed it up for me. I usually forget that it has blue in it—I know Adam commented on that once, too. It really sneaks up on you! It came with a different, plain black/elastic belt originally.

Got a couple of compliments from teachers today, which is always nice. Makes me feel all included in the school. Our student with the least spoken language even knows my name now, which just plain rocks. Actually, I think he’s one of the few kids who calls me the correct “Miss T.” instead of “Mrs.” Thank you very much, sir.

Cute/quirky kid moment of the day: Asked one 5-year-old boy what he would wish for (related to the book we were reading). His first item? “For the world to change more slowly.” When I asked for more details he shifted gears and said “Or for dancing mushrooms!”. So…deep or just Mario-related? I MAY NEVER KNOW. My other student’s answers all involved Star Wars/fighter jets. A bit more expected.

Time for some Wii Fit. My game of “avoiding running for as long as possible” continues. I’m thinking tomorrow might have to be the end—-I love thin mints (and so on and so forth) too much to abandon hardcore cardio for long.

  9. [...] See, I wasn’t lying: I was eager to wear this jacket as a dress. A DRACKET, if you will. I know, I should just coin words 24/7. [...]
