LBD Take II: June 12th, 2010

Event: Mary’s retirement party, Milwaukee evening in with Adam

Outfit: Black one-shoulder dress: The Limited; Necklace: Handed down from Aunt Zarema; Sandals: Target; Purse: H&M; Bangles: Forever 21

You are not mistaken: I just featured this dress last weekend for Beth’s bachelorette party. But, while I don’t plan on anything as ambitious or awesome as Danielle’s LBD Mondays, I figured it’d be fun to style it up again, even though it’s only been a week. I suspect my budget will be a bit tighter this year (um, ironically, since I’ll finally be making $$), so I want to make sure I’m buying things that I will WEAR, WEAR, WEAR. Honestly, I’ve never been on a TRUE budget before, so it’s going to be an adjustment, but one I’m excited about. The prospect of being financially independent is pretty darn thrilling. On that note: Adam and I officially signed our lease last night! And, yes, I made him take photos of the occasion…but maybe I won’t be quite so dorky as to actually post them 😉

Back to the outfit. I wanted to dress the look down a bit for this occasion. While I was attending a party, it was for a family member in a retirement home, which didn’t require a dress by any means (though, c’mon, Anna and I of course went for it). I felt like the brown accessories helped do the trick (+ glasses and beaded necklace). Let me take a moment to declare my love for this new purse—-will be so perfect for walkin’ around Milwaukee! I love my big Simply Vera bag, but I don’t need that size all the time. This is such an awesome alternative (though, whoops, way to not have it closed during the photos!). And the necklace? LOVE IT. Anna snatched it up from the “Aunt Zarema hand-me-downs” pile years ago, so I’m sadly just borrowing it. As it’s a family piece, I’ll try to do so frequently. MUAHAHA.

This dress is still very much on my good side. It will be so perfect for travel some day—-the jersey fabric doesn’t mind being thrown around. Grazie mille, jersey.

Elena, I just can’t get over how amazing that dress looks on you. You should just wear it every day and be fabulous. Although, I do realize that would be 1) boring and 2) not allowed at your placement.

  5. I think it’s great to be eyeing things that will be in good use again and again and again… and I think you’ve made a good investment! That dress looks so comfortable and suits you very nicely. Also gotta love the black + brown!

  6. Amazing necklace!! I’d love to see a close-up shot next time you wear it.

  7. […] shirts/shorter dresses over this dress a few times recently (see my first day of work), as—-on its own—-it’s never going to be a work appropriate item. But its length certainly is! This […]

  8. […] One-shouldered dress worn similarly, worn as-is. […]
