Blue & Chocolate: August 9th, 2010

Event: Dinner in, drinks out.

Outfit: Blue dress: H&M (2007); Sandals: Target; Belt & earrings: Forever 21; Cuff/Bangles: Forever 21 & Old Navy; Clutch: Payless; Puppy: Arwen Arcus (chocolate lab)

Look at that pupster! Ah, her cuteness overwhelms me on a daily basis. But, don’t worry, her need to steal socks constantly brings me back down to a happy medium.

Monday turned into kind of an impromptu date night. Back story: I went grocery shopping that morning, and—SHOCKER—-whilst in line heard someone call my name. This completely threw me off, as ummmm maybe 4 people know me here, and they’d all be at work. But, small crazy world that it is, it was our friend Nic (who designed Adam’s website), working in his office’s Milwaukee location for the day & grabbin’ some sushi for lunch. He had already called Adam to see if we’d want to meet for drinks after work. We planned to meet at Kafevino so that Nic could see Adam’s exhibit. But Nic’s work went long and he wound up having to cancel. Soooo I was all dressed with nowhere to go (though, yes, I’m content to dress up for my dude/a night in). Adam sweetly suggested we still go grab a drink, so I made us dinner (caprese pita pizzas…highly recommend!) and then we headed out, Arwen in tow.

A nearby alleyway served as our photoshoot location, and while there Adam discovered a somethingsomethingsomething Transformer leaking oil (he works for a company that makes these). So he called someone to come check out said potential disaster. So, see?! STYLE BLOGGING SAVES LIVES. Or something. We rock.

This week seems to be the week in which I show you every dress I bought in 2007/2008. This one was purchased right when I got back from study abroad and had magically lost some poundage due to the massive amounts of daily walking (massive amounts of daily gelato were also included, hence the magic). For the first time dresses, and those with slightly shorter hemlines, seemed doable. It doesn’t get a ton of wear now—the chest is a bit tight/low, the belt it came with seems to be missing—-but I felt like it worked out this week. Pairing it with gold/turquoise accents felt fun. I’m so happy to be wearing dresses & skirts again, in case you can’t tell. πŸ™‚ I don’t really know the dress code for my new job yet (other than the self-imposed limitations that will results due to working with 3-5-year-olds). Should be interesante.

Time to get my 30 Day Shred on…our 2 mile walk seems to have taken Arwen out of commission (darn heat) but I’m not quite ready to give up on fitness for the day. Hope you’re having a great week!
