Red & White: August 10th, 2010

Event: Trivia night

Outfit: Red/white striped tank: Gap; Pulsations skirt: Anthropologie, Belt: Forever 21; Sandals: Target; Italia Necklace: Urban Outfitters (gift from Anna)

I debated not posting these photos because I don’t feel like you really get to see the outfit. I was going for some cohesiveness while mixing two red/white prints, but the skirt/actual silhouette is pretty hidden here (you can see the skirt here), so it’s hard to tell if it worked. One older man at trivia yelled to me that he “liked my dress”, so I suppose that’s a positive sign? I’ve been inspired by other style bloggers to post the favorites with the “eh, it was okay”s. I do think part of posting outfits is giving a realistic view of how you look every day—not just on special, fancy occasions. Overall, I liked this look—the shades of red matched up pretty perfectly. Sad news to report? This skirt definitely bled upon first washing—there are little streaks of pink all over the place. I’m still deeming it wearable, but it was pretty disappointing.

Here I’m sitting in a papasan chair Anna is kindly letting us use. One thing Adam, Anna, and I can all agree on? Oh, how we hate Hawaiian print. SO MUCH. Anna bought this when she was a little kiddo, so we’ll cut her some slack ;), but Adam and I are on the hunt for replacement cushions. What color or print? I have no idea. Anna got her original ones at World Market—any other suggestions?

Time to take the puppy out. Photos from today soon! Happy Almost-Friday!

  1. Love red white stripe combo! And against the navy in the chair it really stands out.

  2. World Market and Pier 1 are the only places I can think of that sell cushions! 🙂

  3. i like mixing prints
