Orientation: August 16th, 2010

Event: First day of orientation for work

Outfit: Purple ruffled tee: JCrew; Black pleated skirt: Banana Republic; Sandals: Target; Necklace: Gift from Adam’s great-aunt (Scotland); Headband: Forever 21

On Monday Adam kindly stumbled out of bed to bid me farewell. He also shot a “FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL” photo. I don’t think 6:30AM will become my regular outfit shoot time. Booo early.

All’s well in new-job land. I’ve just had 2 days of orientation, so am just getting to meet a lot of co-workers, eat free food, play with my new MacBook. Some of it’s overwhelming, but mostly I’m really just looking forward to finding more out about my caseload and gettin’ started with my (presumably) adorable 3-5-year-old clients. Pre-K students don’t start until the 30th, so I’ll have some time to get settled in. I feel okay about the commute thus far—so happy to be starting the Harry Potter audiobooks—not a bad way to start my day at all (cannot count how many times I’ve read them, but have only listened to 6&7 on audio previously). We’ll see how long it takes me to get through all seven.

Feeling happy about being part of a school district/program that really seems commited to its students—and to creating a positive work environment. Not feelin’ any regret about my choices yet…which is always a very good feeling.

Happy beginning-o’-the-school-year, students & teachers!
