Apartment Warming: August 20th, 2010

Event: Our apartment-warming party!

Outfit: Blouse: NODRESSCODE by Tony Cohen (Spring/Summer ’08 collection; via Falcon—gift card); Jeans: Gap; Sandals: Target; Earrings: Anthropologie (gift from Stephy); Cuff: Banana Republic (gift from Stephy)

Normally wearing jeans to a big party at my own apartment would not occur to me. I was definitely thinking DRESS. But then I stopped by Falcon, a very nice boutique in our neighborhood, hoping to finally spend the $75 gift card I won in April. They were having a MASSIVE sale, and I scooped this baby up for exactly $75. This one didn’t have the original price on it, but everything around it was crazy (to me): $1500 Zac Posen dress marked down to $200, $450 skirt down to $35, etc. So I’d guess the price was steep. I just loved the silk, the sequins, and—-of course—the orange & grey. I normally don’t go for drapey, looser pieces…but something about this one just felt right. The salesladies encouraged me, too. πŸ™‚ Definitely was nice to have a gift card and just go for a pricey (for me) blouse…feels like such a unique piece.

As for our apartment warming…I loved it! Three of my grad school classmates made the drive up (Katherine, Sarah, Natalie), my sister awesomely came, and one of my friends from study abroad—Laura—stayed through Saturday afternoon. A bunch of Adam’s friends from high school came and stayed the night, and many of his co-workers also celebrated. It was just a really nice mix of people. We spent a lot of the week prepping for the party, so I was really hoping it would live up to my (and everyone’s) expectations. I think everyone had a good time, and it was everything I hoped it would be…a wonderful reunion while giving friends a taste of our new city. I’ll post details of the food/decor soon, but below are some pictures of the people I love! So grateful for their support…and our now-full wine cellar πŸ˜‰ Grazie, amici!
