Anthro Gift: September 21st, 2010

Event: Work, trivia night

Outfit: Plaid ruffled shirt: Anthropologie (gift from Adam); Black cropped pants: Gap; Sandals: Target; Earrings: World Market (gift from Anna); Layering tank: Old Navy; Belt: Forever 21

Adam completely (pleasantly!) surprised me with this shirt for our recent anniversary! Right size and everything. The ruffles are a bit squashed after going through the wash (does one iron ruffles? I suspect I should know how to handle this…), but I love that detail along with the toggle fastenings and ties on the short-sleeves. So pretty! Hey, two kids under the age of 5 complimented it today, so it must be a winner.

Tonight’s trivia was bittersweet—it was Martin’s (Adam’s co-worker from Sweden) last week. Next week he heads back to Europe and we lose our connection to amazing Swedish meatballs and vodka expertise. Sadness. I was only helpful on questions regarding The Spice Girls and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. I’ll admit I’m not a good trivia team member—I know ZILCH about sports and next to nothing about anything before the 1990s when it comes to pop culture.

I had wanted to get more work done tonight, but I will say that trivia was a good way to unwind after a busy day. 2 beers and a couple hours of good company certainly helped my mood.

Time to get ready for bed—happy almost Wednesday!

  1. I love that blouse with the wide belt – such a fantastic silhouette on you. The purple layer is the perfect touch, too.

  2. You look adorable! Love the plaid!

That happens to me with ruffles and flowers, too! I’m guessing there’s some trick, so HELP!

  3. What a nice anniversary gift. Love the pop of purple underneath!

I asked myself about ironing ruffles just the other day… hmmmm

  4. I ordered this shirt last week & wore it yesterday for the first time & I love it! Can’t wait to style it this Fall!

  5. I love the shirt!!

  6. adam has great taste…love the shirt…love how you mixed it with purple.

  7. I love the color palette of this outfit!! What a sweet gift.

Did you run the shirt through the dryer? I’ve found that with ruffly things, they mostly need to drip dry. The ruffles hold their shape a bit better that way. 🙂
