Ups, Downs, Skirts: September 27th, 2010

Event: Work

Outfit: Black tee: Old Navy; Shifting buttons skirt: Anthropologie; Sandals: Target; Belt: Forever 21; Earrings: Francesca’s

Honestly? Monday just stunk. No way around it. The main things were shelling out $$ on car repairs (nothing humongous, but quite enough for someone who has 1 paycheck under her belt) & some paperwork mistakes at work that just left me feeling out of my comfort zone (okay, aka feeling stupid). It just wasn’t a great day, and I felt really rushed throughout. And then I came home to more Arwen destruction. Latest victims? Adam’s shoelaces and, of course, the garbage. Coffee grounds everywhere. She seems to be going through some sort of phase, which previously was just directed at my possessions (moccasins that didn’t even make it onto the blog, running shoes, statement headband), and now seems to just affect whatever she can get her teeth on. And then I smashed my head on the countertop while cleaning up the mess and was just a crying, sad mess. Hence splotchy-face in these photos. I love Arwen to pieces, but grrrrr. Costing me quite a bit o’ $$ and sanity recently.

Um, anyway, all that negativity is out there to get around to the fact that things got better. Adam totally came through for me by pouring me a glass of wine, finishing up my laundry, making the next day’s coffee, and cleaning up the kitchen while I got work done and made it to bed before midnight. I truly am so grateful to have his support on a daily basis, in person. Watching Chuck together also helped, of course.

Back to the general theme o’ this blog—I did enjoy this outfit! As I tried this skirt with brown accents previously, it seemed like time to give black a shot. I definitely liked it with a wider belt. I have to say, liking my outfit always helps any sort of day a little bit. I would guess a lot of bloggers feel similarly. Yay for little confidence boosts!

And, no worries, today was much better. 🙂 And, hey, paycheck numero dos is forthcoming. Take THAT, new sway belt/rear links (?) & Saucony running shoes.

  2. Wow that is a sad Monday!! I hope things are looking a little better later in the week. Your skirt is beautiful and looks really good with your height! I like how you made it look so casual and nonchalant here.

  3. The more you wear that skirt, the more I want one just like it! If my sewing abilities were more advanced I’d try to make one! What a caring BF you have 🙂 Hope you had a better day!

  4. Mondays Suck….. the end!

p.s. this skirt is fantastic. I can’t get enough of seeing it.

  5. Popped over from anthroholic! This look is so graat on you! The big skirt paired with that belt emphasize your tiny little waist! and the gold flat sandals go amazingly here!

Sorry to hear about your poopy Monday! Days like that are tough, but it’s great to have people in your life that help make things better!

  6. Aw yay! Skirt twin! 🙂 I haven’t worn mine with black, but I think I’m gonna have to rock it with a black tee because you look so put-together. I can’t wait to see the new skirt you’re getting 🙂

  7. I am waiting for this skirt to arrive in exchange for an ill-fitting Antrho dress! I can’t wait to be skirt twins with you!

  8. This is a skirt that looks amazing on everyone! I absolutely love it, it’s certainly a timeless piece!

& that’s awesome that you are a speechie as well! Where are you going to school? I’m looking into grad schools right, now scary, especially since I’m (hopefully) moving across the country to Washington for grad school! But I’m a junior now so there’s a little time left 🙂

    • Aw thanks! I went to the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign for undergrad and grad (graduated in May) 🙂 Good luck picking a grad school!
