Weekend Outfit: October 2nd (&3rd), 2010

Event: Adam’s sister’s birthday in Chicagoland (lunch + hockey game)

Outfit: Argyle sweater: Target; White tee: Gap; Skirt: Thrifted (Land’s End); Boots: Hot Kiss via Famous Footwear; Earrings: Francesca’s; Bag: H&M; Belt: Forever 21; Tights: Hue

The above photo kind of looks like my belt is digging into my skin…but, well, I wore this outfit for two days straight and was pretty comfy, so no complaints here. As I briefly mentioned before, what was meant to be a nice birthday afternoon in Chicago for Janelle turned into a 10AM Saturday departure for Chicagoland and a 7:30PM Sunday night Milwaukee arrival.Watching Modern Family with Adam’s sisters absolutely rocks, but being caught unawares away from home with no laptop/work to do/for-fun reading material/toothbrush/jeans, etc, is just not the most fun. It was kind of painful watching our weekend fly away from us (especially as we had really hoped to squeeze in one more film at the festival, go hiking with Arwen, etc). But, in any case, Adam’s car was deemed well enough to make the trip home and we successfully returned sans incident.

As for the planned events, we enjoyed a yummy lunch at P.F. Chang’s for Janelle’s birthday (I must say, probably the best sesame chicken I’ve had in awhile, mostly because there were more veggies!) and then checked out their cousin Matt’s hockey game in the city. He wound up with stitches from a hockey stick (eeks!). Delicious Snickers ice cream cake was consumed later in honor o’ the birthday lady.

This felt like a very “Autumn” look, and yet  it wound up really being weather inappropriate. I borrowed Adam’s coat for quite a bit of the weekend. Chicagoland, a chill is officially in the air!

Mmmm Hot & Sour soup (I missed tofu!)

Sesame chicken!
