Glittering Zebra: May 16th, 2011

Event: Work

Outfit: Striped tee, cropped pants, flats: Gap; Necklace: Rethreads (Gap); Vest: Old Navy (gift)

(Okay, this title may be purely because I worked on /z/ with a couple of kids today, made a “zoo keeper” book together, etc. And because it made me giggle. Gotta love voiced fricatives, am I right? Oh, speech-language pathology is a whole other kind of nerdy)

Quite a Gap, Inc. outfit day! Whether purchased, thrifted, gifted…it’s all made it into the mix.

While putting on this outfit, all I could think was how much I wanted some colorful flats to pair with it. But, alas, my shoe collection is just plain sad right now. These black flats are pretty much my only wearable pair right now. I bought a couple of pairs of boots during the last couple seasons (ooh! and my yellow heels!), but other than that the shoes have been neglected. I never feel like I can predict comfort level accurately, which leaves me less excited about ’em. WHATEVER. This lady needs some red patent flats and she needs ’em now! I’m also crushing MAJORLY on Amy K.’s JCrew flats in a bad bad way (oof—and the dark hickory , sand dune , & gold pairs).

So, um, shoe ramblings aside…this is what I wore today. I went to meetings, saw kids, grocery shopped over lunch & after work (beginning to get ready for my birthday party!), made it home later than preferred. Then I enjoyed fajitas made by Adam, ran on the treadmill, and ate an ice cream bar. And now I’m typing this.

Most pointlessly detailed list of an evening ever. 😉 But, yes, as I tweeted—Adam proclaimed that my first gift of the BIRTHDAY WEEK is not cooking at all this week. No complaints here! I’d say it’s off to an excellent start…

  1. What a great beginning of birthday week present! And I love your outfit. Simple, yet totally classy.

  2. Looking good Ms. Elena!

  3. The cropped pants look great on you and I love the vest over the stripes!!
    Happy birthday week!

  4. […] Well, I once titled a post similarly. But today the name came from the mouths o’ babes, or—rather—one of my sharp-witted 5-year-old students. You’re a zebra today. Your hair is black. Your glasses are black. Your pants are black. You have stripes. Oh, but you’re sparkly. A sparkly zebra. And your necklace is funny. We have a zebra in speech! […]
