Memorial Day: May 30th, 2011

Event: Memorial Day cook-out with friends

Outfit: Maxi dress: Gap; Sandals: Target; Bracelets: Old Navy

We spent Memorial Day in a very traditional way: lounging at the beach (which was crowded beyond belief—so many people in Milwaukee that apparently hide all winter!) with book in hand, throwing around a volleyball, and then grilling lots and lots of meat with friends (+assorted beers). It was the first truly HOT day of the season, and it was the perfect chance to bust out my new maxi dress (as already mentioned, a purchase completely influenced by Kendi). I ordered the “tall” size online and it is officially the first maxi dress I’ve owned that is just about the length it should be. SCORE.

Looking forward to summer of carefree dresses & skirts and big accessories. Which obviously means a shopping trip is in order…

P.S. You can see some of my lovely Memorial Day sunburn going on here. Sunscreen was applied, but some parts of my body decided not to listen to it (HERE’S LOOKING AT YOU, SCALP).

(This plate is incredibly deceiving. I may have eaten 2 hot dogs and a bunless burger over the course of the evening…)
