We Stormed the Bastille.

Last night a bunch of us participated in “Storm the Bastille”, a 5k race that winds through downtown Milwaukee and the Third Ward (and kicks off the BASTILLE DAYS festival in Cathedral Square). The weather was PERFECT, the beach balls kept flying above the runners for miles, and it was awesome to run past all our favorite haunts. Adam reluctantly agreed to do it with me (our other friends doing it are marathon runners, so I didn’t so much have a chance of keeping pace with them)—-not having run in a year he was miserable—but we made it with no walking breaks and kept a decent pace (no idea of actual time—it was so packed that it took us a long time just to get to the starting line and then we were pretty much walking until things spaced out). Michael & Kristy handed us beers at the finish line (merci beaucoup!) and then it was time for crepes & pinot noir. I’d love to actually BE in France right now, but I’ll certainly festival it up for now!

  1. YAY, Elena! Congrats on the successful run and the fake French-ness. 🙂 I love that you and Adam ran together. As cheesy as it sounds, I’m constantly inspired by couples who do such cool things together. No joke. 🙂

Wow, 2 smiley faces. I’ve gone a bit overboard!
