From Market to Movie: August 27th, 2011

Events: Farmers’ market in Chicago with the girls/dinner & movie date with Adam in MKE

Outfits: Grey maxi skirt: Zara; Black tank: Old Navy; Beaded necklace: Handed down/Bib necklace: Stella & dot; Sandals: Target; Heels: Urban Outfitters

On Saturday morning all us SLP ladies walked over to the brown line and took the el over to Old Town (yep, I just liked feeling all Chicagoan for the day) for brunch at Nookies and a (free-sample-filled) trip to the farmers’ market. After a delicious turkey burger & hash browns, I scored a bunch of snapdragons and some yummy fruits (peaches & pears!) at the market. We got our first wedding gift last weekend (a complete surprise as we haven’t released our registries to anyone, but my cousin and his wife awesomely tracked it down)—-a heavy duty, rockin’ blender—–so Adam requested fresh fruits for smoothies. I must say, he is a talented smoothie maker. YUM. Fresh fruit, ice, pineapple/mango juice, a little nonfat Greek yogurt…done! All healthy ingredients, completely delicious.

Once back in the ‘burbs I went for a quick run around my parents’ neighborhood (will always love it) before showering and heading back to Milwaukee. Armed with a giftcard, Adam and I checked out Cafe Hollander in Tosa. Amazing outdoor seating, and I had a delicious chicken sandwich & beer (Adam’s burger was a big disappointment—-sadness). We followed the meal up with a viewing of Our Idiot Brother, which did not disappoint.

Annnnnd my new skirt from Zara came along for the whole day. Soooo comfortable. I’ve already worn it to work this week and would gladly throw it on again. Have I mentioned I went way over budget on clothes this month?! Because yes, yes I did. Admittedly, I had planned to raise my budget a bit for back-to-school, but I think I could’ve reeled myself in a bit more. Time to focus on any bridal shower/bachelorette attire and make my current wardrobe get me through the work week.

  1. I love that skirt! Sounds like a fun weekend. I can’t wait to see what you decide to wear to your bachelorette party.

  2. I love how just some simple accessory changes switch the whole feel of this outfit. Both incarnations are so lovely! And I haven’t been to the Cafe Hollander in Tosa, but I love going to the one on Downer when I visit my friend in MKE!

  3. gorg- love the yellow shoes with that skirt- grellow it up!
