Today I received a very exciting package in the mail: new prescription glasses from! They were kind enough to give me a $100 gift certificate in exchange for reviewing the product—-hence you are looking at glasses that cost me a whoppin’ $5! As someone who wears glasses about 90% of the time, I’m always thrilled to try out a new pair. While I love my Warby Parker frames, they have been slipping off my nose like crazy lately (must get them adjusted!), so a pair that wasn’t 100% plastic looked very appealing. I decided to go outside of my all-nerdy-plastic comfort zone (though they have plenty of eyeglasses matching that description). I went with the “DiCaprio 80”, which were only $68 to start. I have a very strong prescription, so I added high index lenses for$29. This was very similar to my experience with Warby Parker—though I believe I paid $35 for the high index lenses there. I opted to save money and not get any extra coatings/protections, but after placing my order I got an email telling me I got a free upgrade and my glasses would receive all three coatings (score!).

Since I had the gift certificate I couldn’t take advantage of all the great deals they have, but they are pretty darn rockin’ and so I shall pass them on: 50% off any pair of prescription frames (code: Fall50) or 10% off any order (Blog10). I’d look around the site—I saw options for free shipping and BOGO when I was looking! Their facebook and twitter pages also fill you in on special deals. I would buy glasses again at especially if they always have savings like that. I feel very done with spending $$$$ at optical shops or even my old go-to: Costco. Right now my online options are cheaper and have been working out very nicely. I never feel 100% confident with just a virtual mirror, but these pleasantly surprised me! I wore these to tutoring tonight and haven’t taken them off—-definitely a fan. Nerdy + a little bit retro might be a new favorite combination.

What do you think? Any new glasses strike your fancy lately?

*This post was sponsored by in the form of a gift certificate used to buy these glasses. I linked specific key words as agreed upon. My thoughts on the product and website are all my own. Here’s to affordable, chic glasses!

These glasses are Arwen approved! 😉

  1. I love these glasses on you! The retro look is great and they are quite flattering. I just recently ordered my first pair of warby parker glasses – I LOVE them, but am having a hard time getting used to the new prescription. I am always on the lookout for cute/affordable frames. Thanks for the review. I will definitely check out this website.
