Windy City.

I took the train into the city on Saturday morning. Started off with a coffee date at the Iguana Cafe (fun!)…enjoyed a cappuccino and split a yummy goat cheese appetizer. Then I navigated the el successfully over to Crumbs to meet Dotty for cupcakes (yes, I’m a little proud anytime I get from point A to point B without the benefit of a smart phone). It was completely delightful to meet her, even if we deemed our desserts less than fresh. Gorgeous, but not the heavenly taste we’d hoped for (sorry, Crumbs). Will have to try somewhere new next time! Loved splitting a carrot cake and red velvet down the middle…always a good start to a cupcake date. Jordan picked me up from there, and we spent the evening chatting and wining/dining. Got a late dinner at Cantina Laredo, where we enjoyed margaritas, fresh guacamole, and I had some amazing avocado/artichoke enchiladas. I’m not normally big on Mexican food, but I do have a complete obsession with avocados, so it worked out perfectly.

So, um, yep, pretty food-tastic weekend. Capped it off with a yummy salad at Hackney’s for lunch today and a couple of cups of coffee before I trained it back to suburbia. Now it’s time to enjoy Sunday night. Anyone else very excited for the return of Walking Dead tonight?

  5. All that food looks so awesome. What a bummer the cupcakes didn’t live up to their appearance. Navigating public transit is never easy, so congratulations on your phone free success!
