Sunday Fun-day.

This was a busy one. Kicked it off with brunch at Marmalade with two of my Paris ladies—Haley & Andrea—who are both now relative neighbors. Caught up & planned future adventures along with coffee and roasted potatoes. A bit later I walked over to the Book Cellar, a lovely small bookstore/cafe right in Lincoln Square. I’d been looking forward to the Smitten Kitchen book signing for quite awhile. Honestly, the afternoon became kind of a comedy of errors and waiting, but luckily my friend Kim was along for the ride. We waited over an hour just to purchase our books (beer in hand, which was nice), grabbed a pastry across the street at Cafe Selmarie while hoping our turn would come…then walked back to my apartment for a tour/break. I changed outfits for my evening plans, just in case. Walked back. Nowhere near our assigned slot. Grabbed a quick dinner. Still not there.

Finally I had to leave to meet Amy at the theater for a 7:30 showing of Sister Act the musical (…after a 10 minutes late L) and abandon my post (and toss my leftovers from dinner in a dumpster…LE SIGH). Kim awesomely got my book signed for me, but I never got to meet Deb. Kind of a bummer. Not blaming anyone; it just was a very popular event. I’ve realized I think I’ve been reading Smitten Kitchen for 5 (?) or more years. Ah, blogging. So crazy! Am very excited to browse the book—have really been needing some cooking inspiration. You know, when my cooking gas finally gets turned on on Wednesday (…that’s another story).

Sister Act was a lot of fun. Something a bit magical about being downtown on a Sunday night with a childhood bestie, dressed up for a night at the theater. Walking to the L and parting ways at the end of the night. WE’RE LIKE GROWN-UPS NOW.

Anywho. Good job, crazy Sunday. You packed in the fun, the insanity, the food, the friends.
